Don’t let deer eat all the turnips from your Top Shelf Brassica food plot, make creamy mashed turnips for the table instead.
Cook Time: 15-20 Minutes
Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Ingredients:
5 Medium to Large Turnips Peeled and Diced
8 Tablespoons of Butter or 1 Stick
3 Tablespoons of Sour Cream
1 tbsp Ground Black Pepper
1 tsp Salt
Recipe:
Travel to your Buck Bourbon Top Shelf Brassica food plot before deer can eat all your turnips and collect five medium to large turnips. Make sure your turnips are free of any bite marks or discoloration.
After returning home with the turnips, peel and clean them. While peeling, start a pot of water on the stove and bring it to a boil.
Place the cleaned and peeled turnips in the pot once the water is boiling. Boil for 15–20 minutes, until a fork pierces the turnips without resistance. Drain well.
Mash the turnips with butter and sour cream until a fluffy consistency is reached. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Serve warm and enjoy!
